Department of Management Studies is organizing a short term course on HOW TO PURSUE RESEARCH IN MANAGEMENT on 25.04.2013 to 27.04.2013.
Objectives of the course are
Is pursuing research an art? Yes it is. But there are keys to various questions which are important for a researcher. The present FDP will provide answers to these questions.
Course Contents:
1. Preparation of synopsis
2. Writing a literature based paper
3. Finish Chapter 2- Write your review of related literature chapter
4. Discuss, learn and develop complete framework of working on your thesis including:
a) Research approach (Qualitative and Quantitative)
b) Research Design—How to choose and which one to choose
c) Research Problem
d) Research Objectives
e) Sampling Design
f) Data Collection Methods and
g) Tools to be adopted in your case
5. Writing papers and targeting appropriate journals at every stage.
6. Getting published.
7. Targeting conferences and joining your own community.
8. When and how to wind off your thesis.
9. Finally beyond thesis like:
a) Carrying it forward as research through post doc and scholarships.
b) Getting it published.
c) Commercializing it.
d) Using it for teaching i.e. using it as a resource to develop further resources.

Eligibility of Participants
The course is open to faculty members of
business schools and departments in any
AICTE approved institution, who are willing to
pursue Ph.D. degree, doing Ph.D. or have
recently completed and are willing to produce
high quality publications through research.
Course Registration/Nominations
Delegates have to pay a Course fee of Rs.
10,000/- for meeting the expenses on the
Course and boarding/lodging. Their
application form accompanied with a demand
draft of Rs.10,000/-, drawn on any bank in
favor of the Head, CEC and payable at

ABOUT ROORKEE
Roorkee is located at the foothills of
Himalayas in the Uttarakhand State. The
Railway Station is on the main line of
Northern Railways having direct links to Delhi,
Mumbai, Calcutta, Amritsar, Jodhpur and
Ganganagar. The place is also within easy
reach from Delhi, by road (180 km) and is
located on Delhi - Haridwar and Delhi -
Dehradun bus routes. Roorkee is ideally
located near several tourist places like
Dehradun (70 km), Mussoorie (100 km),
Hardwar (32 km) and Rishikesh (52 km).

This 163 year old very vibrant and productive

Institute offers a large number of academic
and research programmes in diverse
disciplines of engineering, technology,

knowledge-seekers and practioners.
Continuing Education Centre (CEC)
CEC offers a platform for the professionals
and officials to relearn the fundamentals and
the advances made in the cutting edge
science and technologies. It helps the
professionals to unlearn the obsolete and to
acquire the advanced knowledge from the
experts and peers in different areas. The
courses are offered in varied and flexible
formats and are led by faculty of various
Departments and Centers of the institute.
Experts from industries and R & D
organizations are also invited to interact with
the participants. The feedback from the
participants helps the CEC in reviewing and
improving the course structure, delivery, boarding
and lodging facilities, etc.
The Course participants are lodged in the Guest
House of the Continuing Education Center and
other Guest Houses of the Institute.
Department of Management Studies
The Department of Management Studies in a short
period has acquired and developed adequate
infrastructure, expertise and resources for imparting
quality management education. The Department
has executed a project worth Rs. 495 lakhs from
Department of Information Technology, Ministry of
Communication and Information Technology,
Government of India titled "National
Competitiveness in Knowledge Economy". This
was a multi-institutional project with IIT Roorkee in
the lead. A Professorial Chair was also given in the
Department under this project. Currently, a
Professorial Chair in area of IPR is also available in
the department.
