If you ever found yourself in an herbal induced state of clarity and wondered if you could set a Guinness World Record in something ridiculous, the answer is you probably can. But then Ashrita Furman would probably break your record. Who? Ashrita Furman. He's perhaps the greatest winner, maybe one of the greatest non-professional athlete and definitely the greatest Guinness World Records holder in the world. Why? Because since 1979, Ashrita has set nearly 400 Guinness World Records. Seriously.
It's crazy. He's done all kinds of stunts like doing 27,000 jumping jacks, balancing lawn mowers on his chin, wearing the world's heaviest shoe, using a spacehopper to balance an egg on a spoon, balancing a bat on his finger, skipping long distance, juggling upside down and doing hundreds of things more than anyone else on this planet. He currently has 148 Guinness World Records to his name.
Director Brian McGinn decided to document As hrita's amazing life in Record Breaker and the short documentary is all kinds of touching, inspiring, life-affirming awesomeness. It's a little bit loony, a lot of quirky and just fun to watch (it's embedded below). The world is an awesome place with even more awesome people in it.
